That site looks suspiciously like the old Phoenix woodland site they shared with the paintball site. Where was your photo taken?

Cheers

Surprisingly, your guess I believe is correct. The site is The Kitchener Plantation, run by Skirmish Airsoft near Worksop, sir.

Do you go there often? It is years since I've been to the Kitchener Plantation, I wouldn't mind tagging along some time.

Cheers

I go there every third Sunday at the least, since the entire site is for airsofters only on that day and no filthy paintballers and their ugly Tippmanns will be there. As you can see, I do not enjoy paintball... Or the vast majority of people who engage in it, sir.

Tried dying my Aussie jacket using Dylon olive green dye. There were some example pictures of Service dress jackets on the Australian War Memorial web site so I was attempting to get within the spectrum of colours they covered. It is hard to tell while it is still wet, but it looks as if it has been partially successful as it is a darker shade of brown now, which may match some of the examples.

Having taken my now dry Jacket out of the airing cupboard, it does look more green. Just got to sew all the insignia back on now. The moleskin trousers I dyed at the same time also look quite good and should hopefully pass for the correct woolen trousers, whilst being more comfortable with my wool allergy. Just need to get some khaki blanco for the webbing now and it should look awesome.

Gave my jackboots some much needed attention, they are now parade inspection ready again hehe.

Also made a start on my low boots. Living in a flat in this weather and with no garden, I'm giving them a temporary finish until I can give them chommers paint stripper treatment in the summer :good:

2 bottles of natural webbing colour blanco arrived from SOF. I have a day off tomorrow so one of my sets of webbing is going to be returned to an unblancoed look by being blancoed. :?

Today I got my first bits of British kit.
Jackets too short, boots are too small and gaiters don't fit...just like the good old days! :(
Good news is the trousers, wool shirt, bracers and helmet are spot on.
Any suggestions where to get decent length BD blouses would be appreciated, without going the Panther route.I'm 6'1" ,the WPG jacket is about 2-3 inches too short at 22" back measurement.

Spearhead may be an option. I believe I read a review of their stuff saying it was a bit cartoonish but they do list all the measurements rather than just chest size. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Spearhead-Mili ... 34.c0.m322
Are you sure that it is too short rather than you're not used to the WW2 British fit? It should reach your belly button and the trousers will have a high waist. See if it will button to the trousers without losing the ability to have children

Spearhead gear has always been ok to me, cut and coloring has always been pretty much spot on.

Agreeing with Russell, remember that the battledress fit is different to German or US (or modern) kit. The bottom of the blouse should just cover the kidneys, it doesnt come down to your waist!

Trousers should be high waisted, should come up on or just above the belly button - and secured with braces, not a belt :good:

You probably know this but there are three buttons on the back of trousers which connect to the blouse. And blouse is the operative word here in that with the trousers pulled up as has been said above the belly button it should blouse out a bit. One of my BDs is WPG and seems fine and I'm 6'3".

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

The equivalent (50 chest) Spearhead Tunic has 25 inch length and comes with Commando badging for the P37, Airborne badging for the P40 or if you fancy something different, they do a green Canadian version, but not in the 50 inch chest :(

If you want something more unusual, theres always the Aussie gear at spearhead. The benefit would be that if you're moving from US gear, the M38 leggings were used by the Aussies from 1942 so you don't have to bother with British anklets. Before 1942 the anklets were either British or a 3 button wool anklet and were pretty much never worn anyway (almost every photo has the trouser legs loose). Boots are hard to get but anything tan or brown with no toe cap will work (so US boots would be fine). Oh and you never have to blanco anything, except for the need to remove any colour left over from previous blancoing. In fact the boots were not polished either, they were uncoloured leather so just dubbin (I don't know why the British thought they lacked discipline).
The downside would be that it is technically only appropriate for games set before 1943, but that just means games where you can't play as American and many games will allow it anyway (I will be at Aachen as an Aussie). The main benefit of Aussie uniform though is the pockets, only the US airborne pockets come close to the capacity (Australia was the worlds largest exporter of wool, so there was no need to reduce the amount of material used).

Cheers guys.
The trousers are above the belly button,it's the jacket thats miles out,it won't even meet with the buttons at the rear, hmmmm.
Nice try on the Aussie kit Russ, but having gone out with an Aussie lass for a couple of years it's sorta put me off anything Australian, inc. Fosters.
